A provisional programme is now available for this event, jointly organised in Seomra Spraoi and NUI Maynooth by the participatory action research programme in social movement practice at NUI Maynooth and the Political Ethnography research group at the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice, Nottingham University. On Saturday 12th, at 12pm, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign will be taking to streets at the LUAS terminal at St Stephen’s Green to highlight the complicity of Veolia, the operators of the LUAS and tenderers for the Dublin Metro North contract (as part of Transdev, with Israel’s apartheid regime. Veolia is involved in the building of the illegal light rail project in occupied East Jerusalem, operating bus services for Israel’s colonial settlers in the occupied territories and the Tovlan land fill in the Jordan Valley. The IPSC aims, as part of the international campaign against Veolia, to convince it to divest from its interests in Israel. read full story / add a comment

Cuban Healthcare in Haiti: The seminar will include a screening of the film Haiti's Healthcare Reborn (22mins) focusing on Cuba’s response to the Haitian earthquake in January and its 10-year commitment to rebuild the Haitian healthcare system from the ground up. At the time of the earthquake, Cuba already had 152 medical and education personnel working in the Haitian capital Port au Prince and was immediately treating the injured in a field hospital. Saturday 5th June saw a march in Derry to protest at the Israel's Massacre of Flotilla Aid Workers, and its continuing "Collective Punishment" of the people of Gaza illegal blockade. Not sated with the wanton butchery of nine human rights activists aboard the Mavi Marmara and the brutalisation of Huwaida Arraf aboard Challenger 1 - another Gaza flotilla ship bound for Gaza - the Israeli army came back for second helpings last Friday in Bil'in, this time, thankfully, with murder not in mind, just with appetite for wanton arrests, child kidnapping and terrorization. Huwaida Arraf, one of the leading lights from the Free Gaza Movement was again on their target list and she was arbitrarily arrested along with villager; Ashraf Abu Rahmah and an Israeli Anarchist Against the Wall at the peaceful demonstration against the nearby Aparheid- Annexation Wall in Bil'in that morning. read full story / add a comment
